Five family vacation splurges that are actually worth the money (and no, we’re not just being bougie).

A private airport transfer. Nobody is at their best in a shuttle line after a full travel day with kids. Your driver is waiting, and you’re poolside while everyone else is still looking for the bus.

A suite or connecting rooms. Bedtime at 8pm shouldn’t mean you sitting in the dark scrolling your phone at 1% brightness. Give the kids their own space and you get your evening back.

An extra night before your cruise. Flights get delayed and ships leave on time. Fly in the day before so your cruise vacation starts relaxed, not with a sprint to the port.

Travel insurance. It’s the thing you hope you never use, until a stomach bug, a canceled flight or a missing suitcase shows up on vacation.

A travel advisor. Yes, we put ourselves on the list. Hear us out. We catch the details you didn’t know to ask about, and we’re one text away when your flight gets rerouted at 11pm.

Every week someone asks us “when’s the best time to go?” and every week our answer starts with “okay, what are you willing to trade?”

The internet will hand you one perfect month. It doesn’t exist. Peak season costs more because you’re buying certainty. Low season is cheap for a reason (hurricanes, closures, shorter park hours). And shoulder season is where most of our families end up landing.

The windows we steer clients toward over and over:

Disney World: late January into early February, or after Labor Day before the holiday decor goes up. But if your crew wants fireworks and late nights, a busier week with later closes can be the smarter build.

Mexico and Caribbean all inclusives: the week after Easter through early June. Warm water, spring breakers have gone home, rates drop.

Europe: late May or September instead of July. Same long days, way fewer people, and the little restaurants you came for are actually open.

Cruises: depends on the route. Caribbean January to April books first, Alaska in May or September for value.

If spring break and summer are your only windows, your tradeoffs look different than an empty nester’s, and that’s exactly the conversation we like having.
